“Dees are a Few of My Favortie Szings”

Each night at bedtime I ask the two girls what song they want me to sing. They always choose the same ones, but if I just start singing they get upset and insist they want to choose which song. Cassie always chooses The Sun’ll Come Out from Annie and Callie chooses My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music. Yesterday ... Read More »

A Proud Mama

So we found out Johnny got the part of Mowgli in the school Jungle Book play! I don’t know why I get to be proud, it’s not like I’ve schooled him in the fine arts of theatre (although I did build a stage for the kids at the cabin), but I’m proud. I’m so happy that he has found something ... Read More »

11 Kids with Snowballs

Yesterday it sounded like a good idea to take everyone outside to get some fresh air, run off some steam, not have to worry about anything getting broken…In addition to the 3 extra kids I was babysitting, Joey had two of his friends over bringing the grand total to 11 people I was supposed to be keeping alive (although Joey ... Preschool Program

Last Thursday the girls had their Christmas Program at Preschool.  They got dressed-up, sang a bunch of cute songs and we had cookies afterward.  Last year, having a 3-year-old in the program was a lot more unpredictable than 4-year-olds so this year was a little more relaxing.  The girls sang the songs, did the actions and despite some wiggles from Cassie they ... Un-decorate the Tree

Friday we put up our Christmas Tree and decorated it…Sunday the girls un-decorated it.  Every ornament within arms reach was in a pile on the floor near the tree.  A few remained at the very top.  I knew they had been taking ornaments off to play with, the teddy bear ornaments, Christmas raccoon and snowman were sledding off the sofa ... Awwwhhhh!

“This next act is by Johnny Rasmussen singing ‘Glad You Came’.  He would like to dedicate this song to his mom!” “Awwwhh!” the crowd crooned in unison. That was the Talent Show Friday night.  I have to admit the kid has his moments.  This was very sweet.  I thought he did great singing and dancing and he had a blast!  It ... Read More »

Thrown Outta Whack by Halloween

Wow, what a week.  Just now catching my breath.  Here’s a recipe for you: A Couple kids with ADHD A field trip to a noisy roller rink A costume party and parade Running around the neighborhood getting sugar Add the above ingredients, then add sleep deprivation (they’re too wired to sleep), a few late assignments, the end of the quarter ... “Mom, we need a new van!”

Cassie and Callie were riding their trikes in the driveway and playing in the leaves (or so I thought).  Cassie came running in, “Mom, we need a new van!”   Not a good sign.  Here’s what I found:   How is that possible?  She was hanging on it (not even sure what to call it) and pulled it off.  How does one ... First Day of Preschool

They’ve been ready to go for weeks and today was the day!  The girls’ first day back at Preschool.  They were very excited, especially since they were first for the honor of Snack Girls.  Of course I had everything planned out, two cute jumpers for the girls to wear, I was going to put Callie’s hair in pig tails, Cassie’s in a cute ... Oatmeal Down the Bathroom Sink

Hey, guess what happens when one of your sweet children dumps her half-eaten bowl of oatmeal down the bathroom sink (our bathroom sink does NOT have a garbage disposal).  That’s it, I’m going to Plumbing School (feel free to read previous posts about the overflowing toilets, more overflowing toilets, an overflowing sink, broken washer…).  There must be some on-line correspondence school I can ...
